Al Anthony
Al joined the C.J. Garvey Company in 1998, as a graduate from Tarleton State University with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology and a minor in marketing. His experience prior to joining the company was working in the Plastic Distribution and Fabrication field. With a mechanical and design-minded approach, Al is able to apply his problem-solving skills to specify the best product chemistry for the application at hand. With sales experience in many high-performance polymers, elastomers and adhesive products, Al has a proven ability in providing material solutions for the most demanding applications. Al resides in Houston, Texas; he enjoys DIY projects and the outdoors.
CJ Garvey
CJ joined the family business started by its founders , Chuck & Marcia Garvey, in 1979, after attending the University of Texas.
CJ grew up in the plastics business, working in the warehouse for Commercial Plastics during high school and college. The stocking, packing and fabricating of materials served him well in a career that included selling many of these items. It also gave him an understanding that what goes on in the back of a business is as important as what goes on in the office. His experience in material sales has led him into many different industries where he has excelled by immersing himself into the applications where his materials are used.
CJ is a member of many organizations (IAPD, SPE, SAMPE, MANA) and attends any relevant trade show he can. He is a CPMR (Certified Professional Manufacturers Representative) and continues to have intellectual curiosity which drives him to find new users and applications for the products he sells. The sun hasn't set on his career, but his shadow is long. CJ has been married to Eileen for nearly 40 years. They have four sons together and a nine-year-old granddaughter.
Tara Monaghan
Tara joined the CJ Garvey company in 1995, working alongside CJ’s Dad, Chuck Garvey. She started as an Office Manager / Inside Sales. Tara is proud to say the first- rate relationships amongst the customers and manufacturers she represents is something she treasures.
Tara, CJ, and the whole Garvey Rep Team work well together and their respect for each other has continued over the years. Their collaborations are the key to their success. Together they helped create this great rep business.
It’s amazing how fulfilling Tara’s personal life is with a wonderful husband Eric and their beautiful daughter Emma. Tara works hard in giving back to her community too, by volunteering at her local church. Her family also takes pleasure in visiting various state parks as they enjoy the great outdoors together.
John Garvey
John joined the CJG team three years ago. He’s new at this business compared to his grandpa and dad, but proud to be involved in the family’s business.
After attending high school at Jesuit College Preparatory School (Class of 2016) in Dallas, Texas, John enrolled in the College of Business at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. He graduated in August of 2021 from the College of Media and Communication, with a minor in Sports Media. He is a faithful Red Raider. John then left Lubbock to come back to Dallas to work with the CJG Team! Between high school and college, John made lifelong friends and he enjoys spending time with them. He loves all Sports, especially soccer, as well as professional reams in the Dallas metroplex.
For John, working with CJ, and the other co-workers has been very exciting and prosperous. He likes to keep the business thriving. John travels extensively, going to professional shows, and making calls in American Southwest. By reading articles on ‘How to be a Better Rep’ and listening to peers, as well as accepting advice and creating his own techniques, he stays up to date professionally. John does what he can to keep the manufacturers, customers, and his mentor ("Dad") happy.
Connor Garvey
Connor was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. After graduating from Jesuit College Preparatory (class of 2016), he moved to Lubbock to attend Texas Tech. Connor left Lubbock in 2021 after finishing college with a degree in media communications and decided to join the CJG company.
Connor has made many excellent connections since starting his career here. He has worked diligently both professionally and personally. Connor is quickly rising up the career ladder and enjoys his time here at the company. His work ethic is strong and it shows through his dedication at CJG Materials.
Connor loves to travel and golf. His free time is spent with his girlfriend, Abby, and dog, Busch. Connor is an avid sports aficionado and watches, his Red Raiders whenever possible. He gives back to his Texas Tech Community by volunteering with students who need his expertise in finishing college. Connor also attends the Dallas Cowboys and Dallas Stars games!
